1973 Bio Note [1]

S. F. Jones, Member, was educated at Dearneside Secondary School and Barnsley Technical College. He was employed by the NCB as Colliery Engineer before joining his present company Walkers (Century Oils) Ltd in 1949 as Engineer. In 1958 he was appointed Chief Engineer and was in charge of the team which, later that year, began work on the development of the Company's range of fire resistant hydraulic fluids. In 1971 Mr Jones was appointed Group Chief Engineer and became responsible for new production methods, new plant and plant maintenance at the seven manufacturing factories within the Group. He was appointed to the Board as Engineering Director in April 1972.
