Stanhope and Tyne Railway

The line from Stanhope to Annfield was opened in 1834 and later that year on to South Shields

In 1841 the company became insolvent and was incorporated into the Pontop and South Shields Railway. The west end of the line was sold to the Derwent Iron Co. This section was later sold to the Wear and Derwent Junction Railway
