Sutton Lodge Chemical Company of St. Helens

  • 1874 Public company registered; capital of 500 in £100 shares[1].
  • 1887 Defendant in a case brought by James Proctor to protect his patent on a mechanical stoker; case posponed until the validity of the patent had been confirmed[2].
  • 1891 Incorporated in the United Alkali Co, formed to amalgamate the users of the Leblanc soda ash process.
